Ancient Life in Penhalonga, Zimbabwe
This is an approximation that shows the possible appearance of a female who lived in the 1200s. Her remains were found in Penhalonga, Zimbabwe, and were evaluated, aged, and sexed in a journal article by Maryna Steyn & Anja Meyer.
Images of the skull were provided in the article, and these allowed me to conduct a 2D approximation using a range of scientific methods. Research was also done to estimate the type of clothing likely to be worn in order to depict a full-body appearance. The height could also be estimated because the femurs were present.
